Cyclocross Is Here... and the Tough Girls are stomping the Colorado Cyclocross Scene... they lead The American Cycling Association's Best Cyclocross Team competition by an unstoppable margin! With 2 races per weekend since mid September and anywhere from 6-10 Tough Girls showing up on the start line... there are just too many fantastic results to detail. But one thing is for certain... Pro Tough Girl Lisa Matlock Strong is on fire!.. with her teammates pullin' in just behind...
Boulder Cyclocross Series #3 was this past Sunday at The Boulder Reservoir... I'll try to paint you a visual picture... The Open Women are all called up based on their Best Cyclocross Rider standings. With 60+ women huddling around nervously awaiting the start... all 9 Tough Girls are called up to start from one of the first two rows... with Lisa getting the first call up! And were off... for 45 minutes of fast paced, wondrous pain! Lisa takes the lead with Gary Fisher rider Heather Irmiger and TG Judy Freeman rounding out the top three. TG Anne Lannan, TG Margell Abel, and TG Andi Burnum are duking it out just behind. TG Brenda Moczygemba, TG Lynn Bush, TG Jane Rynbrandt, and TG Nicole Novembre are hanging in strong moving their way up in the field. Lisa took off and held the lead from the start to take her 3rd WIN of the season! Judy finished 3rd, Anne 7th, Andi 10th, Brenda 12th, Lynn 15th, Margell unfortuantely suffered a flat early in the race... and made her way back up to finish 17th, Jane 21st, and Nicole 36th... out of 60 women. We are rockin' it!
Stay tuned as The Boulder Cups... part of the UCI Cyclocross circuit (International Cycling Union)... are coming to town this weekend! Saturday's race at the Boulder Reservoir hosts a Category 2 UCI race and Sunday's race at Harlow Platts Park in South Boulder hosts a Category 1 UCI race. Riders from all over the nation will be here to chase the International points awarded to the top 15 in the Elite Women's and Men's races. Tough Girl has 5 riders lining up on the start for the Elite Women's race. Wish us luck!... and if your local... come out and cheer us on! http://www.dbcevents.com/
MTB Season Wrap Up... If you didn't hear... Pro Tough Girl Judy Freeman finished her mountain bike season on a career high... placing 5th in the women's Pro Short Track Cross Country event in Brian Head, UT on August 30th. Judy shared the podium with some of MTB's best... Lea Davidson, Katerina Nash, Kelli Emmett, and Georgia Gould... We're so proud! Judy also captured 9th place in the cross country event on Sunday... Judy finished out the NMBS series with a 10th Overall in both XC and STXC... not an easy feat... well done lady!
Sugar Mountain Resort in Banner Elk, NC was host to the Collegiate MTB nationals this past weekend. Pro Tough Girl Melissa Marts headed east to represent the Colorado School of Mines in Division II. Melissa took 2nd in the women's cross country (xc) event, 4th in short track xc, 12th in downhill, and 13th in dual slalom... placing her 3rd Overall for the Women's DII Omnium. Congrats Chica!
